Squishy toys guide: slow-rise, stretchy and stress-ball squishies (ages, care and cleaning)

Squishies come in three kinds: slow-rising (squeeze it and it slowly puffs back), stretchy (pull and squash) and pinch toys. They suit children from 3 up, cost from about Rs 550, and stay nice if you keep them dust-free and wipe them with a damp cloth.
Squishies are the toy every child in school wants right now. They're cheap, they fit in a pocket, and squeezing one is calming. But not every squishy feels the same, so here is a quick guide before you buy.
The three kinds of squishy
1. Slow-rising squishies
Squeeze it flat and it slowly puffs back to shape. These are the most popular for stress relief. In our shop: the cheese block, green apple and salted-butter squishies, and the Mystery Dumpling surprise ball (you don't know which colour you'll get).
2. Stretchy squishies
Soft and rubbery: you can pull, twist and squash them. Our banana bunch is a favourite.
3. Pinch and squeeze toys
Smaller toys with a soft body you pinch, like the rainbow crocodile, the burger or the red character squishy. Good for little hands.

Which age?
- Under 3: not suitable. Small children can bite off pieces.
- 3–6: bigger pinch toys and food shapes, with an adult around.
- 7 and up: any kind. Older children and teens like slow-rising ones for school bags and desks.
How to keep a squishy clean and soft
- Wipe, don't soak. Use a damp cloth with a drop of mild soap, then let it dry in the air.
- Sticky surface? A light dusting of baby powder or cornflour takes the stickiness away.
- Keep it covered. Squishies pick up dust and hair; a small zip bag keeps them clean.
- Keep away from heat and sharp things. Sun, heaters, pens and keys can damage the surface.

Are squishies good for stress?
Many children and adults find squeezing one calming, especially during exams or long car rides.
My squishy tore. Can it be fixed?
Small tears can't really be repaired; it's best to replace it. Keep squishies away from teeth and sharp objects.
Can I choose the colour of the Mystery Dumpling?
No, it's a surprise: each ball comes in one random colour.
